SXSW Next Stage

2015 Highlights from Next Stage

With one of its most noteworthy rosters to date, Next Stage brought together an eclectic mix of artists, designers, content creators and overall creative industry for SXSW 2015.

Representatives from NEW INC, the first museum-led art and design incubator, kicked off Sunday morning with an inside look at their multi-disciplinary creative studio, while a special presentation from Material Alchemist Lauren Bowker of The Unseen left the audience in awe of her latest couture-meets-chemistry collaborations. Grammy award winning artist Imogen Heap, and fellow glove developers demonstrated their advancements in wearable technology for music making, as representatives from iHeart Media, The Ad Council and Live Nation discussed the use of artistic platforms to empower audiences and shape a more impactful message to influence social change. An exceptional lineup from Rooster Teeth, Preferred Content and Fullscreen examined what may be in store for next generation filmmakers and how evolving digital platforms are creating exciting outlets for emerging talent, fueling funding opportunities and growing engaged viewership.

As SXSW shifted into the Music Conference, Next Stage 2015 wrapped with outstanding performances from two international showcasing artists - South Korea’s k-pop doo-wop group The Barberette’s and Great Britain's lively punk folk band Skinny Lister.
