Last night was arguably the biggest in the year for the industry - Oscars night. So we're delighted to report that SXSW has been chosen as an Academy-Award qualifying festival in the Documentary Short Subject category, joining the Animated and Narrative Shorts.
This means that recipients of the award for Documentary Short Film at SXSW 2013 will qualify for consideration in the Documentary Short Subject category of the Annual Academy Awards® without the standard theatrical run, provided the film otherwise complies with the Academy rules.
