Welcome to Throwback Thursday, a new weekly installment on the SXSW Film blog in which we’ll highlight the diverse and innovative programming at the SXSW Film Conference. Don’t forget that our first conference programming announcement is coming on October 15th, so get excited - we know we are!
For the first installment we put the spotlight on a SXSW favorite: director, writer and creator extraordinaire Joss Whedon. We’ve been fortunate to feature Joss Whedon at the conference a number of times, covering the gamut of his career ascension from go-to blockbuster filmmaker to his tiniest passion projects like Much Ado About Nothing. Above is an excerpt from his 2012 panel centered on the crazy-awesome film The Cabin in the Woods. Whedon co-wrote and produced the film, directed by Drew Goddard. Whedon also touches on The Avengers, which, at the time of this conversation, was still in post-production.
Stay tuned next week to hear more from another major filmmaker who attended SXSW for the first time last year. Remember, the only way you can get the opportunity to see these incredible speakers in the flesh is to register for a SXSW Film, Gold or Platinum Badge.
