Tell us a little about your session.
The panel will be moderated by Richard Lorber, CEO & President of Kino Lorber. The panel will explore the fragmented digital film distribution landscape and we will discuss the platforms that deliver audiences and revenue, and outline the challenges to entry, the changing opportunity, and the emerging leaders in the digital landscape. The panel will feature leading aggregators and reps from companies such as Warner Brothers Digital, Gravitas, FilmBuff, Tribeca, and FilmBuff/Cinetic Rights Management, who will talk about the different opportunities for filmmakers and distributors and how to best tap into the digital gold rush. I will be representing Tribeca as a panelist.
We will discuss how people can create a model that thrives and what advice can be shared to help others succeed in what is an ever-evolving new media landscape.
What are you hoping to get out of the experience?
Primarily we are at SXSW Film to acquire new films for US distribution by our label, Tribeca Film. As a panelist I look forward to sharing ideas and discussing opportunities with filmmakers and other distributors working in the digital distribution space.
What are you most looking forward to at SXSW Film 2013?
The most exciting part about SXSW is the sense of discovery -- having the chance to discover new films and talent.

The panel will focus on startups within the entertainment industry that have successfully bridged the not-so-mythical gap between tech and entertainment. At Tugg we've created a platform that allows any film to have a theatrical life as long as there's an audience that demands it. We launched last year at SXSW 2012. In order to get Tugg up and running we had to get studios, filmmakers, and exhibitors (chains and independents) to support a crowdsourced on-demand model, which was an extreme departure from the former state of theatrical distribution.
What are you hoping to get out of the experience?I always enjoy sharing ideas and experiences with folks that have created something unique and functional. I am also hoping to hear from artists and distributors, about how Tugg can continue to provide them with new opportunities to distribute their content.
What are you most looking forward to at SXSW Film 2013?I'm usually sequestered in an office or coffee shop taking meetings, so I always look forward to the end of the day when I can attend a few screenings.
