Every March, creatives of all stripes gather in Austin to witness, share and inspire the visions that will galvanize the filmmakers and ideas of tomorrow. SXSW Film Conference & Festival champions the vitality, innovation and opportunity that drives the entertainment and media landscape, and boldly tackles the evolution of all aspects of “film” today, down to its very definition.
A nexus of discovery and collaborative energy, SXSW Film celebrates the art and business of the possible.
The SXSW Film Awards Ceremony celebrates the achievements of the most talented and innovative filmmakers and artists at the SXSW Film Festival. The awards, chosen by both a curated jury and audience opinion, span diverse categories from documentary features, narrative shorts, music videos and poster art.
Now in its 10th year, SXSW Film is again welcoming short film submissions from Texas high school students. If you are a Texas student in the ninth through 12th grades for the full academic year, you still have a couple of days to send your film to us. Films must be 5 minutes or shorter and completed in 2012 - please see this page for eligibility requirements.
Paste Magazine has just announced their list of 15 Best New Filmmakers of 2012. We're pleased to report that a substantial chunk of the lineup belongs to SXSW alumni.
