SXSW alumni Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z are both known, separately, for their extravagant, epic performances. Jay-Z has been performing in front sold-out arenas ever since he dropped his debut album back in 1996. And, although he only has three solo albums under his belt, Timberlake has been performing on a similar, if not bigger, scale throughout his career. Does it get much bigger than Justin Timberlake or Jay-Z?
Actually, yes. The two have now combined forces for their Legends of the Summer Tour which kicked off in Toronto last Wednesday, July 17. According to a review by Billboard, the tour is off to a remarkable start. Jay-Z has co-headlined quite a few mega-tours in the past with the likes of 50 Cent, R. Kelly, and Kanye West, but this one is slightly different. According a review by Huffington Post Canada, “Jay-Z may have to learn how to play second fiddle” to Timberlake as he stole the show in many ways.
Showmanship aside, this legendary duo will be performing in many legendary ballparks and football stadiums throughout the US. Stops include Yankee Stadium, the Rose Bowl, Fenway Park, and more! That’s just plain cool, although the groundskeepers at these parks may disagree.
