SXSW V2V in Las Vegas showcases the most innovative new leaders in today's startup ecosystem. With this goal in mind, we are excited to announce that FEED Projects CEO Lauren Bush will serve as the third and final keynote on Wednesday, August 14. Bush will be interviewed on the keynote stage at SXSW V2V by internationally recognized author and Inc. Contributing Editor Donna Fenn.
Lauren's passion and breakthrough achievement is coupling cutting-edge fashion with an agenda for global social good. The mission for the company she founded reads as follows “Create Good Products That Help FEED the World.” After witnessing the effects of hunger as a United Nations World Food Programme Honorary Spokesperson, she conceptualized the idea for FEED to engage and empower consumers on this global issue. In 2005, she created the initial FEED 1 bag which, when purchased, feeds one child in school for one year.
She then founded FEED Projects in 2007. Every product sold has a measurable donation attached to it and, to date, the social business has been able provide nearly 60 million school meals globally through the WFP. Additionally, FEED has supported nutrition programs around the world, providing vitamin supplements to over 3.5 million children through UNICEF. FEED has forged successful relationships with companies such as Target, Disney, Pottery Barn, Clarins, Godiva, Whole Foods Market, Gap, TOMS, Amazon, DKNY, Tory Burch, Rachel Roy and Links of London.
For her work with FEED, Lauren was named one of Fortune Magazine’s Most Powerful Women Entrepreneurs in 2009 and one of Inc. Magazine’s 30 Under 30 in 2010. She has also received the 2010 Accessories Council Humanitarian Award, the 2011 Stevie Award for Best Non-Profit Executive and the 2011 Fashion Group International Humanitarian Award.
Lauren joins an exciting SXSW V2V keynote lineup that also includes Tony Hsieh (Monday, August 12) and Steve Case (Tuesday, August 13). Enjoy these great presentations (plus lots of other amazing content, the V2Venture Pitch Competition and incredible networking activities) by purchasing a badge for this can't-miss event. Hurry, registration fees increase at the end of the day on Friday, July 12.
