The Burning Of Rome - "Little Piranhas": SXSW 2013 Showcasing Artist

The Burning of Rome mastermind Adam Traub is a Southern California native who grew up in the sun-bleached city of San Diego. Those formative years were also spent glued to a piano, with a guitar close by.

At age 11 he started playing in a punk band, and by 15 they had struck a deal with Arista Records. During that time, Traub was diagnosed with a rare muscular disorder in both of his legs that would eventually require seven serious surgeries and six titanium bolts to correct.

Jess Williamson - "Long Black Veil (by Johnny Cash)": SXSW 2013 Showcasing Artist

Austin musician Jess Williamson creates raw and intimate songs, rooted in a folk tradition, and strengthened by her unique voice and poetic lyrics. Williamson primarily plays the banjo, employing a combination of three finger Earl Scruggs style, Pete Seeger style, and Claw Hammer. The result is a kaleidoscope of sound uniquely her own.

Gregory Alan Isakov - "Virginia May": SXSW 2013 Showcasing Artist

"Gregory Alan Isakov's This Empty Northern Hemisphere was one of the finest albums of the year. Its melancholy poetics and lush, languid melodies stir me. He churns up his own musical atmosphere, ruled by the moon and the sea, at least aesthetically if not always lyrically. That he can do the same thing alone onstage...is remarkable." —No Depression

Family - "Day Vision": SXSW 2013 Showcasing Artist

A new leader of the Brooklyn pack, FAMILY combines lush classic rock flavor with modern progressive heaviness on its astonishing debut album, Portrait.

The balance Family strikes is one perfected by precious few bands. To bring the vibes of our forefathers -- the finesse, the hooks, the grooves of say, Led Zeppelin -- into the modern day metal underground; to take a classic rock sense of musicality and use it to make something that's fiercely original, crushingly heavy and not "retro" at all... this is a fine line indeed, a delicate tension that is rarely achieved.
