David Wax Museum - "Harder Before it Gets Easier": SXSW 2013 Showcasing Artist

When future music historians look back at the strong currents circulating between the Americas in the 21st century, they will find Los Lobos, Calexico, and a charismatic, lanky Missourian singing tight harmony with a Southern belle rattling the jawbone of a donkey. David Wax and Suz Slezak form the artistic core of the David Wax Museum, and together with multi-instrumentalist Greg Glassman, fuse traditional Mexican folk with American roots and indie rock to create a Mexo-Americana aesthetic.

Stooshe - "Black Heart": SXSW 2013 Showcasing Artist

StooShe is a 3 member British girl group based in Southeast London, UK. The group is comprised of Courtney Rumbold, Alex Buggs, and Karis Anderson. They debuted in March 2011 with the song "FUCK ME" The Love Me Songfacts reports that the song was reworked into a more radio-friendly single titled "Love Me" featuring a guest rap from Travie McCoy and with production by Future Cut. It was officially released as the trio's first official single on March 4, 2012 in the UK.

J. Stalin (born. Jovan Smith) is a rap musician from Cypress Village in the neighborhood of West Oakland in Oakland, California. In 2007, he signed to Zoo Entertainment Production Company run by artist Mekanix.Although young and boyish-looking, J. Stalin adopted a tough rapper persona. He references Joseph Stalin in his stage name because they shared the same initials, and "he was short like me, but he was always smashin' on everybody." In a recent interview he remarked about his home and lifestyle, "This is West Oakland, man. This is the bottom right here."

Cody Canada and The Departed - "Worth The Fight": SXSW 2013 Showcasing Artist

ADVENTŪS is the Latin word for arrival. And so Cody Canada and The Departed emerge with their first original album. Upon the disbanding of Cross Canadian Ragweed, The Departed took root; Cody Canada and his long time Ragweed band mate, Jeremy Plato on bass and vocals, with Seth James on guitar and vocals (Seth James Band, Ray Wylie Hubbard), Steve Littleton on B3 organ and keys (Live Oak Decline, Stoney LaRue & the Arsenals, Medicine Show) and Chris Doege on drums (Seth James Band, Nashville touring acts).

Ryan Bingham - "Guess Who's Knocking": SXSW 2013 Showcasing Artist

Ryan Bingham is an Oscar-winning singer/songwriter, born in New Mexico but raised all across the Southwestern United States. Bingham set out on his own at a young age, shuffling from town to town and performing gigs at local no-frills bars. It's this spirit of having done plenty of living early on, that has informed the singer- songwriters world-weary and jagged, weather-beaten vocals.
