In the cold and dreary winter of 2009, alone in his bedroom and hidden from the darkness of the world outside Justin Paul Vallesteros had begun working on something that would change his life forever. What began as a couple notes played in experimentation soon transformed into vibrant melodies that soon shook Vallesteros' musical foundation to the core. Guitar chords laced over pulse sating synth melodies and drum rhythms was a departure from Justin's previous work; he began to create the dreamy nostalgic pop music that is Craft Spells.

Recently inked to the uber-reliable Captured Tracks imprint, DIIV created instant vibrations in the blog-world with their impressionistic debut Sometime; finding it's way onto the esteemed pages of Pitchfork and Altered Zones a mere matter of weeks after the group's formation.

Facebook is launching a massive music integration, casting a spotlight on streaming music subscription service partners MOG, Rdio, Spotify & others. Leveraging a free model as a viral strategy and/or a trailing tool (an up-sell to a paid premium model) has proven successful for newcomers like Turntable.fm & Sirius XM, and will likely be a key strategy in subscriber acquisition through social music.

Danish indie band Choir Of Young Believers made their debut in 2007, with the EP "Burn The Flag", which earned them heavy airplay and great reviews in their homeland. Other highlights of 2007 included a memorable performance at Roskilde Festival, a National Radio Award for "talent of the year" and a Critics Choice Award for "hope of the year".

Beach Fossils is a Brooklyn-based group, formed in early 2009 by Dustin Payseur. After signing to Captured Tracks and quickly pulling together a live band, they took off playing countless shows across the U.S. gathering a slew of devoted fans in their wake. In May of the same year, their debut LP Beach Fossils met with favorable reviews and became known for its jangly, single note guitar style, dusted with summer-fueled romance.
