Usman Riaz- "Ruckus": SXSW 2013 Showcasing Artist

"I am fortunate to come from a family inclined towards the Arts. My parents recognised my musical aptitude at an early age and had me classically trained in piano since the age of 6.

I picked up percussive guitar at age 16, teaching myself how to pay by watching musicians on the internet. I learnt a variety of instruments online and used my classical training to write pieces for Orchestra using the instrumental knowledge I was acquiring.

Eby- "To Find You": SXSW 2013 Showcasing Artist

Carolyn Wonderland- "Victory of Flying": SXSW 2013 Showcasing Artist

Carolyn Wonderland has the goods. A triple treat with her diverse songwriting, soulful vocals, and guitar goddess status - all featured on over twenty CDs, six of which are her releases - she has a pedigree in this business that’s hard to match. A bit of a renegade, she likes to incorporate elements of Blues, Country, Swing, Zydeco, Surf, Gospel, Soul, and some nights, maybe even a Cumbia into the musical mix.

Dead Prez- "No Way As The Way": SXSW 2013 Showcasing Artist

With hard-hitting beats, politically aware rhymes, deft lyricism and strong song concepts, dead prez emerged in 2000 as one of rap’s most politically strident outfits. Stic.man and M-1’s music provided a voice for the voiceless, a sobering look at the global power structure that was crippling billions of people internationally and millions of Americans domestically. The duo’s first two studio albums, 2000’s Lets Get Free and 2004’s RBG: Revolutionary But Gangsta, were accompanied by four acclaimed Turn Off The Radio mixtapes and solo albums.

Body Parts- "Doing Things": SXSW 2013 Showcasing Artist

Ryder Bach started Body Parts in 2009. The band, rounded out by Alina Cutrono, Raymond Proudfoot, and Taylor Dexter, fuses Ryder's thoughtful lyrics -- food, language and comfort serve as subjects -- with an angular sense of melody, some Prince-inspired guitar work, and a very effective rhythm section; the result is songs that are just as intellectually demanding as they are imminently danceable. The band is now writing and recording new music under the banner FIRE DREAM.

Andrew Collberg- "Man In the Moose Suit": SXSW 2013 Showcasing Artist

Considering that he hails from the balmy climes of Tucson, Arizona, Andrew Collberg writes surprisingly dreamy, chill guitar-tinged pop. A true traveling troubador, he writes music of lyrical love and sun kissed musings on personal connections and lifes that might be lived. He is currently preparing for a national tour in support of his self-titled album.

Empires - "Keep It Steady": SXSW 2013 Showcasing Artist

Empires recently finished recording their second full length album, Garage Hymns. The band's self-produced debut album, Howl, garnered a massive amount of attention when they released it on their website back in 2008, and now, with Garage Hymns, Empires feels that they have found the sound they've been searching for all along.

"We're definitely more defined than ever," explains vocalist Sean Van Vleet. "We've figured out what works for us as we've played together more, and now the music feels really honed in."
