Austin is buzzing with anticipation as a weekend of fun (x3) is upon us. Our homies over at Transmission Entertainment are hosting their 7th annual Fun Fun Fun Fest! Starting tomorrow, Auditorium Shores will be packed with über passionate music and fun lovers jamming out to the hippest acts in indie rock, electronic, hip hop, punk, metal, local Austin up-and-comers and more. Did we mention there is also comedy, a skate ramp and a TACO CANNON? FFF Fest is the place to be this weekend for all things cool, with current trends in music and comedy more than adequately represented with some amazing blasts from the past sprinkled in for good measure.

Richard Dorsett 1955-2012Richard Dorsett, Credit: David Fox Our dear friend and colleague Richard Dorsett suddenly passed away on Friday, October 26th in his home in Austin. Richard had been associated with SXSW for many years as a music festival submissions curator and an Assistant Production Manager, supervising the production of music festival shows.

Richard was one of the original Inner Sanctum Records clerks at the seminal Austin indie record shop during the 1970s, where his trenchant in-store commentary became the stuff of legend. His status in the history of the early punk rock/new wave scene in Austin was cemented with his arrest by the Austin Police Department during the riot that accompanied the debut appearance at Raul's of punk band The Huns, making him one of the "Huns 7."
