Four on the Floor: Bands from Germany

Prepare yourselves, because German artists are taking SXSW by storm. They'll be bringing some seriously catchy tunes to our shores in March, covering the bases from ethereal pop to psyched-out guitar rock and everywhere in between.

Ballet School is an ultra-dreamy electro pop trio from Berlin, layering shoe gaze guitars over infectious drum machine beats. Singer Rosie Blair possesses a crazy-amazing vocal range that holds its own against any pop princess.
RIYL: Cocteau Twins, Grimes

Cologne-based producer Marius Lauber writes and performs under the name Roosevelt. His hazy disco grooves feel suitable for both dancing the night away and spending a quiet evening at home.
RIYL: Washed Out, Bibio

Claire is bringing soulful and sweet synth pop from Munich. Lead singer Josie-Claire Buerkle found the band after appearing on "The Voice of Germany." Their debut The Great Escape was released in September 2013.
RIYL: Chvrches, Passion Pit

Last but certainly not least is Okta Logue, a psychedelic rock band hailing from Frankfurt. The quartet released their second album Tales from Transit City in May 2013. Their stripped-down rock showcases emotional lyrics and recalls past psych heavyweights while maintaining a modern sound that's all their own.
RIYL: Neil Young, Pink Floyd
