SXSW Panelist Josiah AlbertsenSXSW Panelist Josiah AlbertsenSXSW Music 2013 will feature hundreds of the music industry's most influential and notable figures, discussing the most important issues in the business. This is your chance to meet some of our esteemed panelists!

Here's a quick interview with 2013 Music panelist Josiah Albertsen, Financial Advisor at Raymond James, who will attend SXSW for the first time this year. Artists should be sure to check out his panel, Money Matters: Preparing for Life Beyond Music, also featuring party master Andrew WK, this March!

Number of times you've attended SXSW:
Surprisingly, this is the first.

What are you most looking forward to at SXSW:
Spending time with the friends who will also be there, meeting some decent human beings and (of course) moderating our panel’s discussion.

What's the best thing you've heard (or overheard) at SXSW:
You never know who you’re going to meet or what new things you’re going to hear.

Briefly, what is your panel about, and why should we go to your panel?
Our panel is about money and music. It’s a discussion between people who have all charted different paths in the industry on what they’ve learned in their experiences with the subject. Their successes, their failures, what they’ve learned, how they perceive of it, what they think others should know. You should go because the speakers will be excellent. You could hear one bit of advice or one story that could help you avoid a huge mistake in the future.

What's the most important issue in music today?
How to get your art noticed in the crowd and how to earn a sustainable living while doing so.

What was your first job in the music industry?
Intern for an indie label (Suburban Home Records from Denver).

Any tips for first-time attendees?
As a first-time attendee, myself, my advice would be ask any friends who have gone before what they learned the first time they went.
