Music Panel Spotlight: Elvis at 75

james_burton_web.jpgFrom the beginnings of SXSW, the Music Conference has sought out legendary artists and asked them to come to Austin to share their experience with musicians and music professionals. We're thrilled to present many artists' voices in 2010, none more central to the sound of rock and roll than James Burton. From Mr. Burton's solo on Dale Hawkins' "Suzie Q" to his work with Elvis Presley and many other greats, no guitar player can claim greater influence. Mr. Burton was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001 by Keith Richards.

So, I swear I'm totally not trying to pimp Kentucky or anything by featuring another Lexington artist today. And really, who knew Lexington secretly housed so much talent? The one time I went there it was raining and so I, err, left.

In reality, the lads from These United States hail from both DC and Lex so maybe I'm safe from accusations of homeland nepotism.

New Registration Location: Registration and badge pick-up have moved to Exhibit Hall 3 on the ground floor of the ACC. Open starting Thursday March 11th from 3pm-10pm. Open thereafter at 9AM daily.

New Trade Show Location: To accommodate even more exhibitors, the trade show (Film/Interactive & Music) has moved to Exhibit Hall 4 on the ground floor of the Austin Convention Center (ACC).

Cue the Connections

QR-Code_Hands2_0.jpgEach year, SXSW strives to make connecting with the diverse level of attendees easier. This goal has lead to the integration of a Quick Response (QR) Code to each registrant badge. Working in conjunction with my.SXSW, our social networking platform, these special bar codes allow registrants to easily connect with one another. The codes will serve as a real life "follow me" button for my.SXSW on each registrant badge.
