Maldita Vecindad Y Los Hijos Del Quinto Patio at SXSW 2010

MalditaVecindad1.jpgSXSW is excited to announce the participation of Rock en Español pioneers Maldita Vecindad y Los Hijos del Quinto Patio. They began performing in underground circuits in 1985 and their fusion of rock, ska, and Mexican traditional folk rhythms, managed to sell a record-breaking 1 million copies of their 1991 sophomore release “El Circo”, something unheard of for a supposed underground act.

Small Black Make Big Sounds

Showcasing this March, act Small Black is Brooklyn duo Ryan Heyner and Josh Kolenik, making sweet lo-fi pop tunes. The guys have a self-titled five song EP they released in October of this year, with more on the horizon. While this fuzzy, bedroom pop sound scored many of our past summers, Small Black is creating their own "soul-stirring" version, as described by Pitchfork, which will definitely soundtrack the colder seasons just as well.
