Photo by o2 Filmes Now in its seventh year, the SXSW Platinum Connection program connects SXSW international clients with the conference attendees who can have the biggest impact on their business. The Brazilian trade and export office APEX-Brasil will sponsor their third Platinum Connection program at SXSW 2016 for fifteen Brazilian entrepreneurs from the areas of design, technology, advertising, film, music and style.

o2 Filmes, Brazil’s largest production company, will be one of the 2016 Platinum Connection participants. Owned by Oscar-nominated film director Fernando Meirelles (Constant Gardener, City of God, Blindness), o2 was inspired by the VR and immersive storytelling content at SXSW to pioneer the field in Brazil, creating their own equipment and tools to make VR an important part of their work. "Virtual reality," says Meirelles, "is becoming an everyday language."

One of o2’s recent assignments was a large-scale immersive reality project mounted in the dome of the entrance to the Santiago Calatrava-designed Museum of Tomorrow that opened in Rio de Janeiro in December.

o2 director Ricardo Laganaro will host Gabo Arora, filmmaker and senior UN advisor, in a session titled "Immersive Content: The Future of Storytelling?" on the Next Stage at SXSW 2016.
