The SXSW Eco Maker Space presented by Autodesk is a new participatory element within the Eco Exhibition that is bound to hook your inner DIY. With such a broad audience attending SXSW Eco we are excited to include a spectrum of hands-on projects, intriguing demonstrations and design ideas ranging from 3D printing to Arduino-based gardening.
Join the Earthbound Builders Collective as they demonstrate their use of local building materials, wire-up a solar charging station with Sol Design Lab & Skillpoint Alliance or practice your upcycling techniques with Stitch Lab. Be sure to check out the open source technology "RobotGardener" created by Outer Babylon and the impressive research of SMRC as they showcase their latest endeavor: 3D printed food developed for NASA. Design and build lab Topocast, who designed and fabricated the incredible backdrop for the SXSW Eco Awards, will also be in the Maker Space demonstrating their digital fabrication expertise.
The SXSW Eco Exhibition runs from 10:30AM-2:00PM and 3:00PM-5:30PM Monday, October 7 and Tuesday, October 8. The Exhibition and all events located within (including Meet Ups and the Maker Space) are FREE and open to the public. Located in the center of Austin Convention Center's Exhibit Hall 1, the Maker Space will be the destination for DIY at SXSW Eco, stop by for an in-depth look at these ecologically-minded projects and more!
