October is a vibrant month for city of Austin. Fall weather (if you can call it that) begins to replace the hot summer temperatures. The many haunted houses in the city open their doors as Halloween approaches. Fall festivals are taking place in the area surrounding Austin, including the Fall Fun Harvest and The Fall Festival and Corn Maze. And, most importantly, Austin is host to not one, but two “similarly acronymed” music festivals during the month of October.
For many years, the city of Austin was host to one weekend of the Austin City Limits Music Festival. 2010 was the inaugural year of Austin Corn Lover’s Fiesta, a more intimate music festival presented by San Antonio based label Saustex and the Hickoids. The two music festivals have existed during the same time frame since 2010.
This year, Austinites get double the fun as Austin City Limits isn’t the only October music festival expanding to a two-weekend format. The Austin Corn Lover’s Fiesta is following suit. So if you missed out on Austin Corn Lover’s Fiesta last weekend in favor of Austin City Limits (or vice versa), don’t worry: both festivals will be open again this coming weekend. For more information, visit the Austin City Limits website or the Austin Corn Lover’s Fiesta website.
On last week’s episode of the Chronolog, SXSWfm’s Austin local music show hosted by writers for the Austin Chronicle, we previewed artists performing during the first weekend of both festivals. This week, we’re previewing artists performing at weekend two of both Austin City Limits and Austin Corn Lover’s Fiesta, including Not In The Face, White Denim, The Beaumonts, and more! Tune in Mondays at 12pm & 6pm CDT, as well as Tuesdays at midnight CDT, for an informative (and absolutely hilarious) look at the Austin music scene.
