Australian music industry event, BigSound begins it's 12th year running today in Brisbane and will run through this Friday, September 13th. The internationally drawing conference and festival is produced by Queenland's music industry development association, QMusic. With a similar model to SXSW, BigSound brings in a number of music experts and professionals to discuss the ever-changing industry in addition to showcasing 120 bands in 12 venues over the course of three days. Past speakers have included Ben Swank of Third Man Records, Tony Harlow of Warner Music Australia, and Tom Windish of The Windish Agency. SXSW alumni The Beards, Papa, The Naked and Famous, and Temper Trap are just a few of the artists to have hit the BigSound stages over the years.
Gold Coast based punk rock band and Backbeat artist Bleeding Knees Club are one of the acts to be performing at BigSound this year. They most recently hit the SXSW stages in 2012, performing at The Studio by HGTV stage. Another Backbeat artist also on the lineup are garage rockers DUNE RATS who made their SXSW debut this past 2013 event.
One of Australia's most influential online music publications, The Music, has provided attendees with "The Ultimate Guide to BigSound 2013." You can check it out here.
