Admittedly, last Tuesday was light on new music releases. Could it be that everyone needed a little break after Record Store Day? Or is the week immediately following Easter (and that other holiday) typically bad for record sales? No matter the reason, this week’s slate of new music from SXSW 2014 performers more than makes up for it.
Damon Albarn continues to roll through 2014 - the brains behind Gorillaz, Blur, and The Good, the Bad & the Queen releases his debut solo album (Everyday Robots) today in the States! The record comes just more than a month after his success at the SXSW 2014 Music Festival, which culminated with Albarn winning the Grulke Prize for Career Act.
Wye Oak’s fourth studio album, Shriek, represents a strong departure for the Baltimore duo. The band ditches the searing distorted guitars for soaring synthesizers, which was risky considering the success of 2011’s Civilian - but Wye Oak pulls it off beautifully.
There’s so much more new music to digest - see the full list below and tune in to SXSWfm throughout the day! We’ll be spinning plenty of tracks from the albums below. Listen to the stream on your desktop, mobile device, or TuneIn.
