SXSW 2014 Artist: Four Tet

Kieran Hebden has been releasing music under his stage name Four Tet since 1998. After coming to prominence as a member of the post-rock band Fridge, Hebden has established himself as an experimental electronic solo artist.

Hebden is known for using computer-editing techniques that disconnect the music into fragmented pieces. His music is heavily influenced by hip-hop, techno, jazz, and folk mixed with his own guitar playing. By opting for a more abstract approach, Hebden is able to produce a rich, organic sound.

Beautiful Rewind, released in October of 2013 via Hebden’s record label TEXT, is the seventh album for Four Tet. Set to a milder tone, Beautiful Rewind is a compact tribute to jungle, garage and minimalist house music.

Recently, Hebden recorded a 60-minute mix of unreleased music for the Mix Up show on triple j featuring a collaboration with Burial and a remix of Ellie Goulding’s song “Burn.”

Four Tet’s only SXSW performance will be at Boiler Room & Ray-Ban showcase this Saturday, March 15th at Emo's (2015 E Riverside Dr).

To hear music from Four Tet, tune in to SXSWfm’s electronica specialty show Floored Tuesdays at 6 & 12 CST. Make sure to download the free SXSWfm mobile app for iOS and Android to never miss a beat during SXSW 2014.
