The success of regional Hip-Hop is only as strong as the sum of its parts. For Houston, Texas the reputation of its rappers slants in favor of pimped out rhymes in the name of the late DJ Screw. For Dustin Prestige, his mission rests not on changing the face of Houston emcees, rather diversifying it.
White Lung is a punk band from Vancouver, B.C. compromised of Mish Way (vocals), Grady Mackintosh (bass), Kenneth William (guitar) and Anne-Marie Vassiliou (drums). They have released four 7-inches Local Garbage (2007), Magazines (2008), Atlanta (2010) and a self-titled Europe-exclusive on German label Sabotage Records (2012), as well as two LPs It’s The Evil (2010) and Sorry (2012). Their debut LP It’s The Evil received critical acclaim from Maximum Rock n’ Roll, Razor Cake, CHARTAttack and was named Best Punk Record Of The Year by Exclaim! magazine.
Although the Magnolia Housing Projects have long been demolished, a light post still stands at the corner where youth like Vockah Redu (Javocca Davis) gathered to rap and create beats. The light post marks one of the birthplaces of Bounce music, a genre of rap specific to New Orleans that has invigorated crowds throughout the South. Vockah Redu and the Cru animate the stage with their dynamic revival of dance, music, and art from the street corner to the club.

"I am fortunate to come from a family inclined towards the Arts. My parents recognised my musical aptitude at an early age and had me classically trained in piano since the age of 6. I picked up percussive guitar at age 16, teaching myself how to pay by watching musicians on the internet. I learnt a variety of instruments online and used my classical training to write pieces for Orchestra using the instrumental knowledge I was acquiring.
