It's 2013 and the Hickoids have been raising hell off and on for parts of four decades now. Reinvigorated and slimmed down to a touring act featuring original members Davy Jones (guitar) and Jeff Smith (vocals), Rice Moorehead holding down bass duties for several years now, and fresh blood Tom "Tony" Trusnovic and Lance "Slopoke" Farley both with the band for about a year now on guitar and drums repectively. Multi-instrumentalist Scott Lutz occasionally graces the stage for regional shows and records with the band.
Salesman, saljan, transaction. Acid Americana, desert-electro, post-gospel.
Made up of Ally Young and Lee Newell, Lovelife formed after the duo met with a stroke of strange symmetry, in the midst of failed relationships and freshly cut projects. Finding a mutual inspiration and resilience the duo were offered the unlikely opportunity of relocating to New York; giving them the chance to write and create music in a new and inspirational environment.
Rarely does a young band emerge with a combination of skills, talents and vision fully developed. But the LA-based quintet The Lonely Wild is that true gem who’s writing and arranging talents are only surpassed by its members’ ability to work seamlessly as a singular, dynamic voice.
Since the mid 90s, The Linus Pauling Quartet has been playing their particular brand of Texas stoner metal/garage psych infused with their obsessions for drugs, beer, sci-fi/fantasy, and the mighty Bongs of Power. Over the years, they've appeared at multiple SXSW and Terrastock festivals, contributed tracks on several psych compilations and singles, and recorded 8 full-length studio albums - the most recent of which, "Bag of Hammers", is perhaps the heaviest thing they have ever released into the wild.
Here is how some others would describe them:
Jesca Hoop has lived all over the map, and her rich life experience is reflected in her distinctive voice and natural gift for inventive song craft.
With three critically acclaimed self-produced albums, numerous collaborations as a producer, remixer and featured artist, six Greek Video Music Awards nominations (Best Hip-Hop Video 2006/2008/2009, Best Video of the Year 2008, Best Male Artist 2009 and Best Duet 2010), a nomination for MTV Europe’s Favorite Act, and a win for MTV’s first Best Greek Act (2008), Stereo Mike is undoubtedly one of the most promising forces in Greek music.
My name is Haley Bonar (rhymes with Daily Honor), I am a 29 year old singer/songwriter who resides in the lovely village of Saint Paul, MN. Since I can remember, I have been writing songs and singing. I grew up in the Black Hills of South Dakota and was blessed with creative parents and younger siblings who I could direct in our games, theatrics, and dances. In my senior year of high school I recorded and self released my first batch of songs on a self-titled album, my graduation gift from my parents.
Lord Buffalo is a five piece band from Austin, TX. Lord Buffalo sounds like boots on gravel at night, or trains howling or waking up with your jeans on. Lord Buffalo specializes in dark folk that often explodes into trembling yowls, canyon echos, great plains field noise, southern gothic admonitions and psychedelic gray matter.
Often compared to Nick Cave, Woven Hand or the creep who got your sister pregnant, Lord Buffalo is known for stomping, intense live shows and for always having river mud under their fingernails.
