In 2008 I had a serious bicycle accident and was put on bed rest for 8 weeks. To give me something to do, I decided to build and post my first DotNetNuke theme/skin. To my delight it was a tremendous success and within a week it was the top selling theme on the DotNetNuke store.
This led me to really examine the theme/skin industry. The problem I quickly noticed was that the skins for sale only came in 3 or 4 colors. What if I could create a theme engine that, once you chose the basic skin you could customize with an infinite color palette? And what if you wanted to support multiple platforms? This led me to create the BindEngine®. BindEngine® does much more than just allowing a user to choose their own color and layout it also allows you to choose which platform you want to support.
So what is next for BindTuning? Instead of creating themes BindTuning will be opening our BindEngine® to the design community.
Designers will no longer be locked into one platform. With a click of a button designers can sell their designs to WordPress, DotNetNuke, SharePoint, Kentico and many more platforms. For example, if a WP designer wanted to sell their theme to the SharePoint community they first would have to learn SP Designer. Not with the BindEngine®. For the first time ALL their designs will support all the major ECM’s.
