Watch 2016 SXSW Selections: Animated Shorts

I’ve loved animation my whole life, so creating this program each year is always so much fun!

This beautifully diverse and artistic group of films were originally screened as part of SXSW 2016 Animated Shorts Competition. Now, some of them are available for you to watch below! Check out more great short films from past editions of the event on our SXSW Film Festival Vimeo Channel.

ACCIDENTS, BLUNDERS AND CALAMITIES
Director: James Cunningham
A father possum tells his kids a story about the most dangerous animal of all – humans!

DAVID GILMOUR – “THE GIRL IN THE YELLOW DRESS”
Director: Danny Madden
Paris, 1961—The “it” girl walks into a jazz club, imaginations run wild.

EDMOND
Director: Nina Gantz
A funny and dark story of a man with cannibalistic urges who travels back through his life, looking for the root of his unhappiness.

GEIST
Director: Alex Sherwood, Ben Harper, Sean Mullen
A shipwrecked fisherman is led to a dark secret within this short thriller.

SHINY
Director: Spencer Susser, Daniel Cloud Campos
A damsel in in distress gets undressed when a man from the mid-west puts to rest a world that’s obsessed with the priceless, also known as, “The Shiny”.

TRASH CAT
Director: Kelsey Goldych
A cat that likes to knock over trash cans.
