Travel to Austin

Austin is the capital city of the State of Texas. Located in the very heart of Texas, it is easily accessible by highway from Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, and other major cities across the state and the nation.

Just 8 miles from Austin’s city center, Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (ABIA) offers flights daily including non-stops from 50 cities and one-stop connections to hundreds more. ABIA is a modern and efficient facility with very good service to all parts of the United States and connection service to the rest of the world. More than a dozen airlines fly to ABIA daily. Airport transportation is available by taxi, charter and public transportation, including CapMetro’s Airport Flyer.

MeetingsComplete, the Preferred Airfare Provider for SXSW, is a user-friendly online airfare booking engine for domestic and international flights to help you plan your trip to Austin. As a full service travel agency, MeetingsComplete creates a tremendous airfare experience for people attending SXSW. The process to purchase flights is extremely simple with travel agents standing by (at 1-855-748-8444 option 2) if help is needed or you wish to book directly with a travel agent. As a full service travel agency we have obtained discounts on some airlines. Please click on this link to begin the online booking process

Don’t care to fly? Amtrak provides train service to Austin via the Texas Eagle. MegaBus and Greyhound are also alternatives to flying.

Private Aviation Partner of SXSW

XO is revolutionizing private aviation by making it more efficient, transparent, and accessible than ever before. Clients can book seats by either reserving a seat on an existing flight or creating a new flight and making unused seats available to purchase on the XO mobile app. This revolutionary product allows the existing supply base of private jets to be used more efficiently, increasing availability and reducing cost for clients— on average, XO Members and clients save up to 10x by booking a seat vs. a traditional private charter.

On average, fewer than three passengers are aboard a private aircraft; XO shared flights address this inefficiency by flying ten or more passengers, increasing the efficiency of seating capacity by 230%. Since 2019, XO has flown more than 30,000 passengers through its groundbreaking shared flight technology powered by predictive data science.

Hitch, an official transportation partner of SXSW, is a long distance ride car service to get you to SXSW and back without costing you an arm and a leg.

If you’re traveling to SXSW from Dallas-Ft.Worth, Houston, San Antonio or College Station (or airports in those cities), driving your own car and paying exorbitant parking rates just doesn’t make sense.

Download the Hitch app for iOS or Android. As a SXSW attendee, your first three rides* are 50% off with code: HITCHSXSW22.

*Discount applies up to $25 off each ride. Offer expires April 30, 2022.

Check out the U.S. Bureau of Consular Affairs for the most up-to-date information to apply for your U.S. VISA.

Individuals applying for a non-immigrant visa at the U.S. Embassy will be required to submit an electronic application form, known as the DS-160 Non-Immigrant Visa Electronic Application form.

The VISA Waiver Program (VWP) enables most citizens or nationals of participating countries to travel to the United States for tourism or business for stays of 90 days or less, without first obtaining a visa, when they meet specific requirements. Travelers must have a valid Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) approval prior to travel. If you prefer to have a VISA in your passport, you may still apply for a visitor (B) VISA.
