We've finished counting the votes. From the more than 470 applications received this year, 48 finalists in six categories have be chosen to participate in the 2016 SXSW Accelerator® pitch competition.
How will the competition go down? For Round One, on Saturday, March 12, the 48 Finalists will give it all they've got in front a live audience, a panel of judges and emcees. On Sunday, March 13, the competition continues onto Round Two where the 48 Finalists will be narrowed down to the top 18. These top 18 startups will return to present to a new set of judges and emcees. At the end of Day Two, these judges will select the winners for each category. The winners will be announced and honored at the Accelerator Awards ceremony that will take place after Day Two pitches conclude.
Below are the lists of Finalists and Alternates for each category. Learn more about each company before they get to the stage, read their full bios here.
Competition was tough and we're extremely grateful for all of the incredibly creative entries we received this year. See the 48 Finalists showcase their products on Saturday, March 12 and Sunday, March 13 at the Hilton in downtown Austin.
What does it means to be an Alternate? An Alternate serves as a backup when a Finalist is not able to participate in the event, but all Alternates will have the chance to compete in the One-Minute Speed Pitch that takes place during the SXSW Accelerator Awards ceremony.
Competition was tough and we're extremely grateful for all of the incredibly creative entries we received this year.
