Julian Assange speaks at SXSW on Saturday, March 8

WikiLeaks founder and publisher Julian Assange joins The Barbarian Group's Benjamin Palmer via satellite video for a live conversation on Saturday, March 8 at 11 am at SXSW Interactive 2014.

The anti-censorship activist will engage in this extremely rare public interview to discuss the pervasive spread of surveillance, advantages and abuses of the digital age, and the future of democracy.

Assange's pursuit to unveil the truth has made him a prominent world figure over the last seven years. His early interest in the Internet helped bring the empowering tool to Australia in the early 1990s. In 2006, Assange established WikiLeaks as a platform to confront corruption and publish the truth. Since its creation, WikiLeaks has published several million documents to increase transparency between governments and their citizens.

Benjamin Palmer co-founded The Barbarian Group in 2001. The digital creative agency specializes in helping brands navigate a brave new world where the Internet has taken its rightful place as the driving force behind commerce and culture.

The Julian Assange + Benjamin Palmer conversation on Saturday, March 8 is one of more than 800 daytime programming sessions at the 2014 SXSW Interactive Festival. The hour-by-hour, day-by-day schedule of these sessions can now be accessed online.
