Dinosaur Bones at SXSW 2010

SXSW alumni band Dinosaur Bones will return to Austin next week to perform at Empire Control Room & Garage with local bands She Sir and The Villas. The indie rock quintet hails from Toronto, Canada and just released their sophomore full length album on Dine Alone Records this past August entitled Shaky Dream. The record was recorded right here in Texas. The group began working with Dine Alone a few years ago & released their first EP on the label in 2010, then followed that up with their first LP in 2011 called My Divider. The label is home to several other Backbeat favorites including FIDLAR, The Dodos, and Yukon Blonde.

Well known in their native Canada, Dinosaur Bones has performed at several Canadian festivals including POP Montreal and Halifax Pop Explosion. Their first SXSW performance was in 2010 when they showcased for presenter Billboard alongside such established artists as Those Darlins, Man Man, and Dead Confederate. They returned in 2011 to perform on the Canadian Music Week showcase.

Earlier this year they had the opportunity to play support for Brendan Canning of Broken Social Scene through some North American dates. Their current winter tour will continue with two more dates after their Austin performance in both Houston and Brooklyn. You can check out their official website for details.

Catch Dinosaur Bones this week on The Backbeat, SXSWfm's weekly rock show that airs every Friday at 6 & 12 CDT, as well as Saturday at 12am and 9pm CDT. Tune in on your mobile device or desktop here.
