Shoulders: The Fun Resumes!

SXSW Alumni Shoulders

First of all, a great new profile of the band Shoulders has been written by our friend Margaret Moser in the Austin Chronicle. Find it here.

It recounts how Michael Slattery and Todd Kassens met at UT in the 80’s, how their new band trampled the boundaries of what an “Austin Band” was supposed to sound like, how their gypsy circus anthems found greater appreciation in Europe, how business forces can limit creative visions, and how, after 20 years, Shoulders healed to make a new album to rival their gems from more than a score ago: Trashman Shoes and The Fun Never Stops.

Another Round is the new album from Shoulders and they will be performing songs from it this evening at the Palm Door in downtown Austin, part of the Austin Chronicle’s free music series, Paper Cuts. The show is FREE if you RSVP. And you can hear several of the new tracks today on New Music Tuesday here on SXSWfm. Tune in here on your mobile device or desktop.
