The SXSW® Music and Media Conference is back for its 27th year. Our reputation as the biggest and most anticipated convergence of all things music is being kept alive by our continued effort to offer compelling daytime programming and stellar nighttime showcases.
Friday night, March 15, at Stubb's Amphitheater, Time Out NY returns to SXSW with another stellar lineup. Iconic ska revival/punk band The Specials will without a doubt bring the party atmosphere, teaming up with American indie rock heavy hitters The Cold War Kids to anchor the night.
Here's a little secret I must confess... I've had a bit of a crush on Hugh Padgham since the mid-80s when I saw him win a Grammy for - I'd been thinking it was Synchronicity - but if you look at his resumé it could have been for No Jacket Required. Either way, to one girl's fevered teenage mind came the man who was producing all the best music of the era and since then Padgham's career has been varied as he's worked with everyone from Kate Bush to Brian Wilson to Van der Graaf Generator.
These days Hugh hangs out with his famous dog Stanley (who is regularly featured in his wife's design catalogs), continues to produce, and always puts his left shoe on first.
Hosted on Next Stage by Bike Hugger and Make Magazine, this presentation features a series of discussions from a variety of designers and innovators. Give firsthand insight into your creative process and showcase your unique design for the SXSW audience!
After a few requests from our friends up north hunkering down for the storm, we've extended our last registration deadline for SXSW 2013 to 11:59pm (CST) on Monday, February 11th. That means you have more time to get your 2013 SXSW Registration squared away. For those of you not getting buried in snow, you also have until Monday night to save up to $155 off of the walkup-rate.
We hope all those in the northeast stay safe and warm this weekend. We look forward to seeing you all in March!
