Street Closures

The City of Austin closes various streets in downtown Austin during the Spring Festival Season, which includes SXSW. To help navigate the closures, please check back to view the City’s Spring Festival Season street closures map for 2018.

For more information about the City of Austin’s street closures during SXSW and/or how to obtain Barricade Access Vehicle Passes, please contact either Connor Tester at or Christian Mella at

We don’t recommend driving a car during SXSW. With the many street closures and heightened traffic, it can be an expensive challenge to drive. Area parking ranges in price and availability. If you do plan to drive downtown, arrive to secure parking. Parking locations and availability can be found on the City of Austin’s website. >>
