At the time, the two had just collaborated on a concert documentary called Heart of Gold, and Demme joined Young for a Keynote interview to discuss the project. The two later worked on another film called Neil Young Trunk Show, which debuted at SXSW in 2009. Demme was an early SXSW Film advocate and remained so until his death in 2017, and Young also has come back to SXSW in subsequent years to promote his various film, music and tech ventures.
