Brandi Carlile Interviews Elisabeth Moss at SXSW 2019 [Video]
Grammy winning singer-songwriter Brandi Carlile interviews Emmy Award-winning actress Elisabeth Moss about her intense transformation to play punk rocker Becky Something in the acclaimed, upcoming film Her Smell. Hear Carlile and Moss swap stories and trade secrets about the rock and roll lifestyle, both real and pretend, in addition to Moss's other roles during their 2019 SXSW Featured Session.
Moss spoke in detail about her preparations and research for the characters that she's played. For Her Smell, Moss drew inspirations from Amy Winehouse, Courtney Love, watched many Marilyn Monroe documentaries, and even had conversations with people who opened up about their experiences with addiction, sobriety, and vulnerability.

Over the course of time, the pair got to know each other on a deeper level, so much so that Moss was the star of Carlile's music video Party of One. Initially Moss was hesitant due to scheduling and time constraints but eventually decided she couldn't let the opportunity slip away. "I was like okay, we have to do this just based on the song. It was just so beautiful and had an incredible message," said Moss.
