This week, Austin and Dallas are lucky enough to experience @DadBoner & Friends Live. A standup tour and celebration of the Twitter celebrity’s first book, Power Moves, @DadBoner & Friends features beloved SXSW Comedy alum Matt Braunger alongside @DadBoner himself, Mike Burns (a comedian described by the Portland Mercury as “the grown-up version of the dirty kid down the block who, like, plays with dry ice and shit,” and a legend among media bloggers who spent months trying to unmask the man behind the popular parody account).
If you don’t follow @DadBoner, you’re missing out on one of Twitter’s best jokes. The fictional feed of middle-aged Grand Blanc, Michigan, resident Karl Welzein – a divorcee, unenthusiastic part-time father, and spicy wing fanatic - @DadBoner is a well-crafted satire that’s turned a mundane persona into one of alt comedy’s most consistently funny accounts. Back in April, the @DadBoner & Friends Live show debuted at the Bridgetown Comedy Festival (which Braunger co-founded). Now, creator Burns has published a book of @DadBoner’s wisdom, and you can hear exclusive excerpts at the live show’s two Texas dates:
AUSTIN Wednesday, October 23 at The ND (tickets available online)
DALLAS Thursday, October 24 at Sons of Hermann Hall (tickets available online)
