SXSW Gaming Awards

The application process for this event will open Monday, June 29

Started in 2014, the SXSW Gaming Awards is our way of showing that we admire and respect the hard work it takes to harness the magic of creating games, the passion behind it and the persistent drive that keeps a team going until the end. On this very same note, we implore our judges to have this very same viewpoint to evaluate unbiasedly. Every project should be celebrated and respected, but these are the best of the best that capture each category in its fullest meaning.

Entries for the 2015 SXSW Gaming Awards opened in August and closed in December 2014. Judging for the top five choices in each category began immediately afterwards. The SXSW Gaming Advisory Board, which is comprised of over 40 industry experts that are well-versed in everything gaming and geek culture, played and reviewed all submitted games to determine the final five nominees in each category. From there, we at SXSW invited the general public, along with the advisory board, to cast their vote to help determine the winner of each category.

Gamer's Voice shares the same selection and submission periods as all the other categories, but it is unique in that it is purely focused on indie developers and teams. In addition to this, the nominees are picked exclusively by the SXSW Gaming Staff. We play every game and pick the top 30 to come join us at SXSW with an exclusive space on the SXSW Gaming Expo floor. From there, attendees will have the chance to play each nominee title and vote to determine the winner of the award, which were announced during the SXSW Gaming Awards ceremony. See below for the winner.
