Business-for-social-good trailblazer Blake Mycoskie, Founder of TOMS, returns to SXSW Interactive on Tuesday, March 11, 2014. The altruistic entrepreneur has been very busy in the last two years.
In June 2011, TOMS launched the next chapter of One for One, TOMS eyewear. (Mycoskie alluded to this release during his 2011 SXSW Keynote.) June of this year, TOMS hit a landmark donation point donating 10 million pairs of shoes to needy children around the world. And just earlier this month, Marketplace, an e-commerce platform for charitable businesses, was launched to help support smaller startup-stage ventures with positive social missions.
In continuing to search for new ways to support developing nations, Mycoskie has accepted the challenge of taking serious poverty alleviation beyond providing basic necessities, such as footwear and eyesight, to now bringing jobs to these communities. A new TOMS company goal strives to produce one third of all giving shoes in the countries they are distributed in by the end of 2015.
This ambitious soul never ceases to rest in his search for continuous giving. Hear more about his latest pursuits at SXSW Interactive in March 2014.
