We receive many emails asking us how companies can get involved with SXSW Startup Village. So this seems like a good time to explain a little bit of what it is and what it is not.
While the location is technically the Fourth Floor of the Hilton Austin Downtown and the offices of the Austin Chamber of Commerce, Startup Village exists more as a concept than an actual place place. Events that occur within the confines of Startup Village include: the SXSW Ping Pong Tournament, SXSW Accelerator, Startup Austin, Startup Spotlight for domestic companies, Startup Spotlight for international companies, plus dozens of startup-related sessions. Admission to all these Startup Village events is included as part of your SXSW Interactive, Gold or Platinum badge. During SXSW, we like to think that the Fourth Floor of the Austin Downtown Hilton becomes a networking platform for entrepreneurs and investors -- a spot where they can come together to brainstorm about the latest and greatest digital innovations that are quickly re-shaping the world as we know it.
Programming for SXSW Startup Village comes from several different sources. Some sessions are created through our various partners. Startup Village also include sessions selected from SXSW PanelPicker entries. We rely heavily on votes from the online public, so please be part of the community and vote for your favorite startup related content. Go to this page and search for 'startup' and see what you find. I did a quick search and found 344 so you might want to drill down a bit more. For example if you add 'VC' the results get down to 18, a more manageable amount.
Finally you can be part of event by applying directly to the Startup Village portal. If you would like to do so, then please contact us at this address and we will send you complete instructions.
