In addition to Bill Gates, the 2013 SXSWedu Conference & Festival will feature keynote remarks from Asenath Andrews, the inspirational founder and principal of the Catherine Ferguson Academy in Detroit, Michigan on Tuesday, March 5. Award-winning writer with The New York Times, Laura Pappano, will moderate a keynote conversation addressing Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) featuring Coursera co-founder Andrew Ng and edX President Anant Agarwal on Wednesday, March 6.

Opening Keynote - Asenath Andrews

Asenath Andrews, the founder and principal of Catherine Ferguson Academy, an alternative public high school for pregnant girls and teen mothers in Detroit, Michigan, will share her inspiring perspective in the opening keynote address, Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at SXSWedu in Austin, Texas.

In addition to providing early education services for the children of high school moms and holding both middle and high school classes, the Catherine Ferguson Academy boasts a 90% graduation rate with vast majority of graduating students attending 2-4 year colleges.

Keynote Conversation - MOOCs

Coursera co-founder Andrew Ng and edX President, Anant Agarwal will take the stage Wednesday, March 6 in a special Keynote conversation moderated by Laura Pappano focused on massive open online courses (MOOCs), a rapidly growing interest in the education space, designed to offer large-scale participation through the web.
