Tuesday means two things: It's no longer Monday, and new music from SXSW alumni hits the shelves. This week we've got a solid offering, plus tracks from these new records airing on SXSWfm. Tune in today to catch new songs from Trampled By Turtles, Bear in Heaven, newcomers Little Daylight and esteemed singer-songwriter John Hiatt.
Minnesota natives Trampled By Turtles boast their "hybrid folk sound" on their new album Wild Animals that drops today. In addition to releasing its seventh studio album, the group is gearing up to host its own festival, Festival Palomino, that features performances from fellow SXSW alumni The Head and The Heart and Hurray for the Riff Raff on September 20 in Shakopee, Minnesota. What's just as exciting as a band hosting its first annual festival is John Hiatt releasing his 22nd studio album, Terms of My Surrender. The 61-year-old singer-songwriter, whose songs have been recorded by the likes of Bob Dylan and Iggy Pop, goes back to a bluesy approach with this new album.
Then we have Brooklyn, New York showing its chops with new music from Little Daylight and Bear in Heaven. Little Daylight went from creating remixes of songs to releasing its debut album Hello Memory in just two years, while Bear in Heaven is flexing its veteran muscles with its fourth studio album Time Is Over One Day Old. Though the new Bear in Heaven album doesn't come out until August 5, you can pre-order it and catch some of those tracks on SXSWfm today.
Aside from these four, we have a plethora of other SXSW alumni dropping new music today. Check them out below.
