SXSW Connection Leads to Sync, Album Funding for Nikki Lynette

The connections you make as an artist at the SXSW Music Conference can lead to good things. Look no further than the story of Nikki Lynette, an up-and-coming rapper, singer and producer from Chicago.

After speaking at the 2014 SXSW Music Conference, Nikki linked up with fellow SXSW Music speaker Eric Johnson (aka DJ Bunny Ears) and wound up getting placed in a K-Mart commercial as a rapping lunch lady.

The money Nikki earned from the commercial was enough to fund her upcoming album, Respect My Disrespect, which she plans to release in the spring. She’s been working with producers Matt Hennessy, Da Internz (Rihanna, Nicki Minaj) and Oh Hush! (Jason Derulo, CeeLo Green) on the genre-blending album.
