Most people look to Houston for Texas rap, but they need to look another Texas city to find Yung Nation. The Dallas-based duo of Brandon Reed (B. Reed) and Kendall Johnson (Lil Faime) is getting ready to take the hip-hop world for a ride with their “new, fun, fresh sound.” The goal of Yung Nation is “to do the never done before” and bring in “the new Yungins” - a whole new generation of hip-hop fans.
Yung Nation had a simple beginning. The pair began rapping together during basketball practice when they were kids, according to an interview with Yahoo! Voices. Even though the members of Yung Nation are, well, young, they still recognize that their fans are most responsible for their success. “They keep us going everyday,” they said in the same interview with Yahoo!
It’s safe to say that their fans have kept Yung Nation going strong: they just dropped two mixtapes this week, All Freestyles 3 and iYess 2, and will be returning to SXSW in 2014. You can hear tracks from both of those mixtapes today on Tha Fixx Radio only on SXSWfm. Tune in to our weekly hip-hop show today at 12 and 6 CST by clicking here.
