Both natives of Scotland, Manson is the vocalist for Garbage, while Mayberry fronts CHVRCHES. After Manson broke out internationally during the ‘90s and reached a level of prominence that few of her fellow Scottish musicians had at the time, Mayberry counted Manson as an important role model and influence during her own burgeoning music career. During their joint Music Keynote, the two talked at length about the challenges of being the only female musicians in bands with men, as well as navigating and battling the sexist culture that has been all too pervasive in the music industry.
