Press and Media and Web Community: What's New at SXSW Interactive for 2014

Written by Kelly Krause | September 24, 2013

New is the name of the game at SXSW Interactive

The one thing that remains consistent every year at SXSW: Innovation across the board. When planning the event, we strive for adapting to our community's wants and needs and prefer that no two years look the same. Adapting means we get to introduce a host of fresh and new ideas every year.

See below for a preview of new and exciting things you can look forward to at the 2014 SXSW Interactive Festival:

  • New Location for Digital Creative Job Market: Now in Ballrooms ABC on the first floor of the Austin Convention Center on Thursday, March 6 and Friday, March 7.

  • Earlier Friday Start Time: Friday, March 7 sessions will now begin at 11:30 am at the Austin Convention Center and several other venues.

  • More Free Content at the Long Center: We'll have more free panel content particularly focused on the video game industry at the Long Center, which is adjacent to the Palmer Events Center (home of the SXSW Gaming Expo).

  • New Location for SXSW Create Launched in 2013, SXSW Create is a free-to-attend space for the maker / hacker / DIY community. Our new location for 2014 will be announced later this year.

  • SXSW Gaming Awards: Our first-ever SXSW Gaming Awards will take place Saturday, March 8 at 7:30pm at the Long Center, honoring the year's best major studio games and recognize the most innovative independent titles.

  • SXSW Accelerator Awards Moves to Sunday: The winners of SXSW Accelerator, our two-day pitch competition for newly-launched startups will be revealed on Sunday evening, March 9.
