SXSW 2014 Band: Black Pistol Fire

Written by Tayla Ridley

The Chronolog will be playing all new music this week! From Scott H Biram's new album to The Growl’s EP, listen to some of Austin’s freshest music during The Chronolog.

This past Tuesday, Holy Wave released their LP Relax. Originally from El Paso, Holy Wave’s psychedelic reverb and excellent execution have made them a staple performance in the Austin area. This Friday, the band will be hosting an album release party at Hotel Vegas.

The Sour Notes, a SXSW veteran band who will be returning to the music festival this year, is kicking off their spring tour with Yuck at Red 7 on Wednesday, February 5th. The Chronolog has an exclusive listen of “Cutthroat,” a track off the Sour Notes' upcoming album.

Another returning SXSW 2014 band is Black Pistol Fire, the Canadian rock-n-roll duo who put down roots in Austin. During last year’s SXSW, the Huffington Post called Black Pistol Fire "the most energetic and musically versatile of all the bands playing the festival." Their new album, Hush and Howl, is set to be released in April, but The Chronolog will be previewing “Blue Eyed Commotion,” a track from the album.

Think you know the pulse of Austin’s music? Vote here for who you think should be in the Austin Music Hall of Fame! Winners will be announced at the Austin Music Awards during the SXSW Music Conference.
